The Fitzpatrick Scale is used by physicians to identify different skin types that have different needs in terms of laser treatments.

Different skin types require different lasers to provide effective

hair removal treatments without damaging the skin.

GentleMax Pro laser treatments work on all skin

types on the Fitzpatrick Scale, so you can get the

hair removal service you need regardless of your skin type.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL

_____________________________

DO NOT wax, tweeze or sugar the area to be treated.

DO NOT use cream depilatories on the area to be treated.

DO NOT tan before your laser hair removal appointment.

DO NOT tan after your laser hair removal appointment.

DO NOT use skin care products on the area to be treated.

YOU CAN take an over-the-counter pain reliever

 before your appointment.

Please SHAVE the day before your appointment.

On the day of your appointment, thoroughly clean the area being treated, and do not apply any lotions. You may also want to wear loose-fitting clothing, since your skin may feel a little sensitive following the treatment, and having clothing constantly rubbing against it will be uncomfortable and potentially painful.

If you follow these tips, your laser hair removal treatment is sure to be a success. Don’t be afraid to ask questions before your appointment, or to consult your doctor if there are any medical concerns. Once you’ve adequately prepared, you’re ready to say goodbye to your old razors and waxing kits, and to enjoy your silky smooth skin!

Laser hair removal is not recommended for patients who are nursing, pregnant, on Accutane or something equivalent too within the last year or recently tanned skin (spray tan).

Not recommended for patients with white, blonde, grey or light red hair as there is very little melanin to absorb the laser.

Hair growth

image37

There is 2,500 follicles of hair in any square inch of skin, sometimes only about 100 get zapped depending on the hair cycle it’s at.

Stage 1 – Anagen :This stage is the beginning phase of hair growth. This is when the hair is visible above the skin and is still attached to the papilla. The papilla is a knoblike vascular indentation of the bottom of the hair follicle on which the hair bulb fits. This hair growth Anagen phase is ideal for laser hair removal because since it is still attached to the papilla the laser can attack the papilla and prevent any new growth. This stage usually lasts for about 2-3 weeks and occurs for both facial and body hair.

Stage 2 – Catagen : This stage is not exactly ideal for permanent hair removal as it is during this stage that the hair begins to shed, this shedding is not the same as after the treatment. This can last about 2 days, so not very long. You can still get the treatment as the follicle will produce another hair.

Stage 3 – Telogen : This is the final stage of hair growth and is the one stage where laser treatment cannot be done. This is because the hair is neither growing nor developing and it is no longer attached to the papilla. This stage is fairly unpredictable and can last for any amount of time ranging from a few days to a few years.

That’s why it’s recommended you come in for 6-8 sessions on those areas spaced 4-6 weeks apart to target whatever stage your hair growth is at and to have touch ups over the years because its unpredictable on which stage each follicle is at. Every time you come in we will laser you in different patterns to target certain areas that might not have been lasered on your previous visit.
